| General Information |

The Main LIne Ski Team is
affiliated with the Main Line Ski Club and provides a fun and
challenging opportunity for competitive
ski racers to train and compete on a regular basis.
The team competes in an average of 25 events against other clubs during
the winter including downhill, giant slalom and slalom
events sanctioned by the American Ski Racing Alliance (ASRA). Training
is also conducted on some weekends by ASRA and on
selected Monday nights by the Eastern Pennsylvania Ski Council (EPSC).
The team has a track record of excellent performance and is currently
the 16-time National ASRA champion and the 16-time
and defending EPSC champions. In addition, the team is a three-time JEEP
Regional Ski Challenge Mid-Atlantic champion fielding strong teams at
the nationals.
There are about 72 racers on the team ranging from ex-professional
racers to intermediate skiers working to improve their
skills. All ages participate as the ASRA races are handicapped by age
and ability. Ages of team members range from 21 to 72. You
must be at least 21 years of age to participate for points in the
competition, but all family members including children can race.

| Participation and Cost |
To participate on the team, all skiers must be a
member of the Main Line Ski Club and a member of ASRA. ASRA dues
are about $40.00 per season (early register discount) and annual Ski
Club dues are just $35.00. Racers pay entry fees of about $8.00
for each event in addition to a discounted lift ticket. The total cost
to compete and ski is usually less than the normal cost of a lift
ticket.
There is no minimum requirement for participation. Racers are welcome to
attend any number of races during the season,
however, to qualify for the National championships in March, a minimum
number of race starts is required in order to
establish a proper handicap. |

The Races |
| Races are conducted throughout the Northeast
including Vermont, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Race format
varies from week to week and most are weekend events with awards and a
party on Saturday evening. Some special events are held on weekdays,
such as super G's, due to the availability of an appropriate slope.
Competition can be fierce, particularly in dual pro format races with
bump and elimination. Competition is friendly for those interested in
the fun and camaraderie ski racing provides. |
| National Championships |
The ASRA National Championships are held in the
third weekend in March at Bellayre. This is a three-day event and is the
"March Madness" of club ski racing. Individuals who have accrued a
handicap during the season are pitted against one another in ability
groups for great equipment prizes from sponsors such as
Tecnica Boots, Fischer Skis and Marker Bindings. Parties and awards
ceremonies are held on Friday and Saturday evenings
following individual championship racing. Sunday is the season ending
slalom championship and barbeque where all racers compete for fun and
summer bragging rights.
