For me, a large part of Christmas is remembering past celebrations with family and friends. Although hardships may have surrounded the holidays, they are not what stand out the most in my memory. I see the faces and hear the voices of those who made my holidays special. Of course it started with my mom who once had a neighbor dress up as Santa Claus. What a thrill!
And then there were those Christmas mornings, coming down the stairs to find bright packages stacked under the tree. Later it was the memories of watching my own children experience such wonders. These days I think of all of the people who surrounded me throughout the years, and how we came together for celebrations. I wish they were all still around to talk to and share these times with and I regret not making enough time for them when I was younger.
So to all, share the upcoming holidays with all those close to you, and take the time to create memories for those who will come after!
