Who We Are

June-July 2013 Message from the President

It’s been a cool spring and it’s hard to believe that summer is just around the corner. Although it may seem early, planning for our big trips starts almost as soon as we hang up our skis. Our trip coordinator, Debbie Pentz, has already begun finalizing proposals for our 2014 trips.

In late January, early February, Jack Behrle will lead a European trip to France. Joan Krahn has reserved condos for a Vail downhill trip for the first week of February – this trip will also offer a cross country option for a limited number of people. John and Sue Kapusta are planning a long weekend New England trip for cross country and downhill skiers, and Glenn and Sally Price are going to run a trip to Sun Valley in early March. Finally, Linda LaChapelle and Joan Krahn will be trying something new for the club next July with a European river boat cruise from Budapest to Cologne. Current members can reserve a spot on any of these trips starting now, with a small deposit. Please contact the trip leaders – trip descriptions will begin showing up on the website in the coming weeks.

Many thanks to those hosting the progressive dinner and the Kentucky Derby party! The planning, preparation, and clean-up for these big events means a lot of work for our hosts, and we are most appreciative of those who have opened up their lovely homes. With each activity we take part in, Joan and I are reminded of how much the club has meant to us and how many good friends we’ve made.

Our summer calendar is packed full of fun and interesting activities and events. We hope to see you along the way, enjoying all the benefits that the club has to offer!

David Krahn
